The Meaning Behind the Name

The name "Dar" carries with it a rich legacy, paying homage to the memory of the great-grandfather, Mr. Edward Woodcock, affectionately known as Dar by many. The son of an English mariner, Dar found love and companionship in Ms. Amelina Petrousse, and together they welcomed their only daughter, Ms. Monique Woodcock. Monique, a devout and conservative Catholic, married Mr. Francois SINON and gave birth to an astonishing 16 children, with 12 reaching adulthood and starting families of their own. Monique was lovingly referred to as ManDou or Sweet Mother by all her children and grandchildren.

The name "Douce" honors the memory of Monique SINON - ManDou, who, to her friends, was simply known as "Douce" or "Sweet." This same sweetness and warmth infuse the apartments that await you during your stay in Paradise. Your sojourn at Dar & Douce will be marked by the same kindness, helpfulness, and conservative character that defined the late sweet mother - Mandou.
